This product line is a Porcher Group specialty, and in Brazil has been in production since 1985.
They are constructed through the perfect combination of three fundamental components:
The raw material (type of yarn)
The construction (type and density)
The chemical impregnation (glue)
|
The raw material can be:
High tenacity polyester filament with a wide range of yarn number between 80 and 1100 dtex.
Glass filament also in different yarn numbers, being that the most used are those filaments with numbers 34 and 68 tex.
Other fibers can be used, such as Modal and Polyamide, but they are rarely used; they are indicated for very particular applications.
There is also the possibility of attaching to the scrim a Polyester non-woven, to a glass veil or to a film. In this case, the attached material will be glued to the scrim.
|
The process of producing these scrims consists of the insertion of weft yarn between two groups of warp lines, in an offset warp (I) or superposed (S), in special machines developed by the head office in France. The warp yarns are distributed transversally to the set of warp yarns.
The clamping between the warp and weft yarns is done by gluing at the crossings points (chemical bonding), and not by interlacing as in conventional weaving. The set is immersed in a glue bath and then dried in a oven, forming in this manner a net in the shape of a square (or rectangle) or in tri-directional design (forming diamond shape). |
 |
|
The density or contexture of the reinforcement scrim is the quantity of yarn per centimeter, in the directions of warp and weft yarns, and can change according to the desired product. In the figure below there is an example.
The width of the roll of the reinforcement scrim can be chosen by the client, within the following limits: 400 and 2500 mm, with selvage cut or uncut.

Meaning of the letters in the description of this product’s code:
I = Single warp construction
S = Double warp construction
T = Tri-directional (diagonal) construction
ANC = Uncut selvage |
They are 20% to 40% thinner than similar products made in conventional looms;
Better penetration of adhesives;
Improves the dimensional stability and breaking strength. |
