Rubber Cord
 

Known in the market as Rubber Cord, internally (in Brazil) they are called “fios aderisados”, a term that originated from the French fils adhriss.

They are cables composed of glass strands (filaments) covered with rubber. Different types of glass (E, S2) and different types of rubber (CR, CSM, EPDM, HNBR, NBR, SBR, TPE) can be combined in order to meet the technical requisites of the final application. After the rubber bath the strands are twisted so as to form the cable; in the case of the product used for timing belts, the cable is composed of 13 strands.

The glass yarn ensures exceptional resistance and dimensional stability in the product and for this reason it is used around the world by belt manufacturers, both by those who supply directly to automobile manufacturers (OEM – Original Equipment Manufacturers) as well as those who meet the retail sector (Aftermarket).

These characteristics are fundamental in timing belts both for automobiles and for industrial machines in general.

Porcher Brazil produces E-glass yarn cables covered in CR rubber (polychloroprene). It supplies the main timing belt manufacturers, servicing factories in Brazil and in other countries (Argentina, Germany, China, Mexico and the United States).

 

At the Sovoutri plant, in France, cables with glass filaments + rubber (HNBR, CSM, high module, etc.) are produced for timing belts; yarn with RFL finishing for use in automobile profiles (sealing systems) and synthetic yarns with special finishing for the industrial and automotive hose segment.

The yarns produced in Brazil are made from EC9 110 Z20 glass and Chloroprene (known in the market under the trade name “Neoprene” – by DuPont Performance) and are twisted with approximately 80 torsions/meter (S and Z directions), reaching final number with approximately 1800 tex. Some examples of configurations: 110 x 3 x 12, 110 x 1 x 3, 110 x 1 x 13 tex.

All shipments are accompanied by Certificates of Quality. All batches go through Laboratory Analyses that are part of the Quality Control Laboratory routine (ISO 9001:2008 Certification).

Parameters that are controlled by the Laboratory: Torsion, Title, Equilonger, Diameter, Loss to Fire, Rupture Charge, Elongation to Rupture and Adherence.
